Optimization of ceramic-metal composites fabrication. Influence of the metal phase on the microstructure and properties of composites. Ceramic-metal interface.

Functionally graded ceramic-metal composites. Novel hybrid ceramic-metal composites. Composites of the following systems: ceramic matrix Al2O3, ZrO2, SiO2 with Fe, Mo, W, Ni, Ti, Al. Biomometics, biogenic silica, diatoms, ancient pottery.

Subject of investigation

  • ceramics, ceramic matrix composites, ceramic-metal composites, ceramic-intermetallic composites, functionally graded ceramic matrix composites.

Experimental work is developing together with Faculty of Chemistry of Warsaw University of Technology (WUT), Group of Professor M. Szafran.

Main developing topics

  • Ceramics and composites with ceramic matrix (Al2O3, ZrO2) with metals  (Ni, Mo, Fe, Cu, Ti inne ) and with intermetallic phase (NiAl);
  • Functional graded composites (Al2O3-Ni) fabricated according to elaborated in Group method of fabrication (patent  „Sposób wytwarzania elementów kompozytowych z gradientem fazy metalicznej”, PL 234766, 2019) odlewania odśrodkowego mas lejnych jak również z udziałem pola magnetycznego;
  • Hybrid composites fabricated with precomposite powder (NiAl-Al2O3).

Research offer

  • Microstructure characterization, SEM analysis, density and porosity of sinters;
  • Analysis of mechanical properties (hardness, fracture toughness, compression test, bend test, wear resistance tests.
