The scientific activity of the group is mainly focused on investigating the corrosion resistance of metals and metallic alloys, particularly magnesium and its alloys, as well as selected grades of steel.

The main research areas include:

  • Determination of the influence of microstructure on the corrosion processes of metals and their alloys at room and elevated temperatures,
  • Characterization of electrochemical corrosion and passivation mechanisms of metals and their alloys in various environments,
  • Investigation of the corrosion behavior of additively manufactured metallic materials (LPBF),
  • Determination of relationships between processing technology, microstructure, and corrosion properties of metallic materials,
  • Application of electrochemical and gravimetric methods to assess material durability, including in vitro testing of biomaterials under conditions simulating physiological environments.

Research Offer

  • Evaluation of corrosion resistance of metals and alloys using electrochemical methods,
  • Evaluation of corrosion resistance of metals and alloys using gravimetric methods,
  • Characterization and identification of corrosion mechanisms based on microscopic observations and surface analysis,
  • Corrosion resistance testing in salt spray environments in accordance with PN-EN ISO 9227.
