Competition for the position of a scholarship - PhD student in the OPUS 23 project

Position title: Scholarship holder - doctoral student
Requirements:
- The call is open to candidates who meet the requirements set out in the "Regulations on awarding NCN scholarships in research projects financed by NCN" set out in the annex to the NCN Council Resolution No. 25/2019 of 14 March 2019.
- PhD student/participant of doctoral studies (3rd cycle) in the field of materials engineering, conducted by an authorized organizational unit of the university, a scientific institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, a research institute or an international scientific institute operating in the territory of the Republic of Poland established on the basis of separate regulations.
- Knowledge in the field of materials chemistry and engineering, in particular in the field of characterization of two-dimensional (2D) materials.
- Knowledge and experience in carrying out scientific research using MXene materials and MXene characterization with Raman spectroscopy technique will be an advantage.
- Experience in preparing scientific publications and disseminating the results of the project at scientific conferences.
- Participation in the implementation of research or research and development grants.
- Good knowledge of English in speech and writing, in particular allowing for independent preparation of scientific publications and oral presentation of research results.
- High level of independence and reliability.
- Strong motivation to carry out scientific research.
- Availability.
Tasks’ descriptions:
- Refining methods of MXene synthesis and engineering towards achieving reproducible and tailored surface
- MXenes characterization with a set of state-of-the art techniques, but mainly focused on in situ Raman spectroscopy.
- Preparing scientific publications and disseminating project results at scientific conferences.
- Participation in writing research grant applications.

Conditions:
Remuneration: PLN 192.000,00 in gross total
Duration of the contract: 4 years
Formal conditions: Scholarship agreement with the Warsaw University of Technology, Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering
Required documents:
- Curriculum vitae containing description of scientific activity to date, description of scientific achievements, information on project participation, list of articles and articles accepted for publication, patents, patent applications, conference announcements, as well as actual contact details (e-mail address and phone number).
- A cover letter relating to the above listed requirements for candidates.
- A copy of the diploma of obtaining the title of Master of Science and other certificates confirming the qualifications held.
- A statement signed by the candidate and the supervisor (and assistant supervisor - if applicable) of the thesis on the implementation of the doctoral thesis, its progress, place of work, topic of the thesis, contact details of the supervisor/supervisor (and assistant supervisor, if applicable).
- A signed declaration of knowledge and acceptance of the principles of intellectual property and legal protection of intellectual property.
- A signed statement with the following content: "I am consent to the processing of my personal data by the Warsaw University of Technology, Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, with its registered office in Warsaw, ul. Wołoska 141, 02-507 Warsaw, in order to carry out this recruitment process.”
The scholarship holder will be selected by the competition committee chaired by the Principal Investigator.
The competition committee reserves the right to interview candidates online before 08 May 2023, at the agreed time.
The competition will wrap up by 15 May 2023.

Competition organizer reserves the right to cancel the competition without giving reasons. The conclusion of the competition is not valid to establishing a scholarship relationship with the Warsaw University of Technology. The final decision awarding the scholarship will be made by the Dean based on the recommendation of the competition committee.
