The holiday period at the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering is not only a time of rest. During summer months our scientists conduct research work that often involves business trips.

PhD students from the "Polymer Composites" Research Group visited Poznań, where the ITM Industry Europe fair took place. ITM is the largest and most significant industrial fair in this part of Europe, presenting global trends in line with the idea of Industry 4.0. Our team presented its achievements together with the research group from the Technical University of Dresden and representatives of the CINNOMATECH Cluster of Innovative Manufacturing Technologies.

On the stand the results of followed research projects financed by the National Center for Research and Development (NCRD) were promoted:

  • „Development of an intelligent construction of a composite pressure vessel with a tilting bottom” (MAZOWSZE/0141/19),
  • „Innovative composite materials for road transport” (POIR.01.01.01-00-0782/19),
  • „Polymer composites with increased mechanical and electrical properties based on an innovative thermoplastic resin” (LIDER/46/0185/L-11/19/NCBR/2020)
  • oraz „Smart membrane pressing technology for manufacturing of high performance composite components of high diversification” (CORNET/27/2/2020).

A few days later, our young scientists participated in the 5th International Conference "Mechatronics 2021" in Szczecin, organized by the West Pomeranian University of Technology.

During the two days of the conference, its participants could hear three presentations and watch two multimedia posters of our PhD students. The following speeches were presented as part of the "Smart Machines and Smart Materials" and "Intelligent Machines and Technologies" sessions:

  • ‍ Katarzyna Żołyńska et al.: „Modification of epoxy gelcoat to obtain hydro- and icephobic properties”
  • ‍ Kamil Dydek et al.: “Effect of processing temperature and the content of carbon nanotubes on the properties of nanocomposites based on polyphenylene sulfide”
  • ‍ Bartłomiej Przybyszewski et al.: “An experimental study of icing on nanocomposite polyurethane coatings”
  • ‍ Katarzyna Żołyńska et al.: “Selection of laser processing parameters for cleaning of aluminum alloy sheets”
  • ‍ Bartłomiej Przybyszewski et al.: “Laser patterning of polyester resin-based gelcoats for improvement hydrophobic and icephobic properties”.

Within above-mentioned speeches, the results of the following research projects financed by the NCRD were presented:

  • „Polymer composites with increased mechanical and electrical properties based on an innovative thermoplastic resin” (LIDER/46/0185/L-11/19/NCBR/2020)
  • Development of processing technology for aluminum and composite primary and secondary structures (Mazowsze/0211/19-00)
  • Icephobic surfaces for applications with polymer composite elements (LIDER/16/0068/L-9/17/NCBR/2018).
