Students from the Biomaterials Student Research Group have qualified for the finals of the Read Write Grow European Synthetic Biology Hackathon—an event dedicated to innovation in the field of synthetic biology.

On November 17–21, our Faculty hosted an intensive course organized as part of the European ATHENS program. It was WIM PW's debut in this initiative, and the course was entitled “Smart & Sustainable: Functional Materials for the Future.”

The Biomaterials Student Research Group won the nationwide KoKoN competition, taking first place in the Scientific Research category. The winning project, titled “Angel – an innovative implant for muscle tissue regeneration,” was selected from among 15 submissions in this category.

Dr Piotr Bazarnik from the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology, received a distinction during the NanoSPD9 – 9th International Conference on Nanomaterials by Severe Plastic Deformation, held in Beijing, China, from 31 October to 4 November 2025. The event is one of the most prominent international conferences dedicated to severe plastic deformation (SPD) techniques.

The Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering at Warsaw University of Technology (WUT) has established a formal cooperation agreement with the Korea Carbon Industry Promotion Agency (Kcarbon) – a specialized research institution focusing on advanced carbon materials, particularly composites and polymer-based nanomaterials.

During the EMRS Spring Meeting conference in Strasbourg, elections were held for the leadership of the European Materials Research Society (EMRS) - one of Europe's most important scientific associations uniting materials research specialists. Prof. Małgorzata Lewandowska from the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology was elected EMRS Vice President.

The Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry hosted the official kick-off meeting for the international R&D project BioCAN, bringing together chemicals, materials scientists, engineers and environmental scientists from seven research and industrial institutions across Europe. 

LOT Aircraft Maintenance Services is implementing a product innovation focused on eliminating the currently used chemical and mechanical technologies for removing paint coatings from aluminum and composite primary and secondary aircraft structures. Researchers from the Warsaw University of Technology participated in the research work.

In mid-February, the ranking list for the M-ERA.NET 3 Call 2024 was published. The list includes two projects from PW, involving researchers from the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering: “BAS4WIND - Basalt Fiber Composites for Sustainable Wind Energy” and “BioCAN - Development of bio-based polymers with covalently adaptable networks for recyclable natural fibre reinforced composite production”. Both projects have received funding under the program.

On January 8, 2025, enrollment for second-cycle studies opened at Warsaw University of Technology.

In mid-January, the ranking list no. 8 for the Weave-UNISONO competition was announced. Included on the list was the project titled "Hybrid crystalline-amorphous bioabsorbable composites - the breakthrough for medical devices," led by Prof. Wojciech Święszkowski.

The revitalized appearance of the iconic Warsaw palm tree is, in part, the result of work by a team from WUT's Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering in collaboration with the Lubas company. Our specialists were responsible for designing and crafting the new leaves.

Prof. Adam Proń from the Faculty of Chemistry was honored for his achievements in scientific activity, while Aniela Czudek, PhD, from the Faculty of Physics, and Bartłomiej Przybyszewski, PhD, from the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering were recognized for their doctoral dissertations.

Prof. Izabela Szafraniak-Wiza from the Poznan University of Technology, Dr Grzegorz Michta from the AGH University of Science and Technology, and Dr Rafał Wróblewski from the Warsaw University of Technology were among the finalists of the 20th edition of Science Populariser competition in the Team category.

Staff and student exchanges, research projects and joint/double doctorates are the main areas of new agreements concluded between WUT and TU Dresden. Representatives of both universities met on 3 October 2024 at the Warsaw University of Technology.

The November 2023 Session will officially take place on 18-25.11.2023.  Registration will begin on September 9th and will last until September 19th. Course offer for November 2023 session will be announced on the 1st day of registration.

In June, in the latest edition of the ranking Best Global Universities (2024–2025), run by U.S. News, the Warsaw University of Technology was ranked 946 in the world and came 5^th among Polish institutions.

The repository hosts the materials from technical and non-technical workshops delivered in the frame of the COMP-ECO Project by 2 advanced partners Delft Technical University and Dresden Technical University.

The Warsaw University of Technology is once again one of the best universities in the world in the QS World University Rankings by Subject.

The 26th Scientific Symposium "Composites Theory and Practice" is a cyclical event organized by the Polish Society of Composite Materials.

The list is prepared by Stanford University in cooperation with the Elsevier Publishing House.

The Joint 17^th Conference on Rapidly Quenched and Metastable Materials (RQ 17) and 27^th International Symposium on Metastable, Amorphous and Nanostructured Materials (ISMANAM 27) was organised at Warsaw University of Technology from 20^th to 25^th August 2023. It was excellent opportunity to share news and ideas on fundamental and applied research in the field of metallic glasses and other amorphous materials, nanocrystalline materials, other metastable materials, their processing, structure, properties and applications.

The aim of the competition for the Dean's Team Grant for PhD Students is to support the scientific activity of young scientists by enabling the implementation of projects within the framework of the Faculty divisions.
